Itang Town Water Utility
The Itang Town Water Utility Board intends to recruit a qualified General Manager for the Itang Town Water Utility (ITWU).
The ITWU water supply system is characterized as a multi village water supply system with main bulk supply pipelines with various infrastructure along the routes to convey and provide water to Itang and Thurpham towns and three refugee camps, namely: Kule, Tierkidi and Nguenyyiel.
The ITWU General Manager (GM) is responsible for efficient and effective management of the Itang Town Water Utility (ITWU). The GM facilitates the implementation of the utility policy and procedures at all levels. The GM is responsible to ensure the overall implementation of the business plan of ITWU. He/she is expected to grow water production and distribution, profits and increasing return. The GM reports directly to the board, who is the governing entity of the ITWU. The GM is the secretary to and facilitates the monthly board meetings, calls for meetings, draws up the agendas and keeps minutes.
The GM will work to create, maintain, and facilitate an effective and efficient water utility having both technical and administrative systems within the organization. The GM is responsible to ensure both policies and procedures on ITWU management are implemented.
Duration: – One year contract with possibility of extension based on his her performance.
The Itang Town Water Utility reserves the right to reject all or parts of the Notice.
Required No: one
BSC/MSC Degree in Engineering(water supply and sanitation /Hydraulic/civil/sanitary/Mechanical, Business administration ,Leadership and related field 8 years in BSC and 6 years in MSC experiences with at least 3 of the years working on supervisory level, in water sector.
Ability and certified basic computer skill(word,excel,power port. Publishers etc.
Experience Project Management
Ability to plan, Manage, control and lead the utility in profitable manner.
Experience in coordinating particular water supply and sanitation projects
Proven proficiency in the design, construction, supervision, assessment, and analysis, development of manual and strategies of public service with high credit to experience in water supply and sanitation service.
Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills; excellent partnerships and people management skill and ability to build relationships;
Demonstrates ability to work effectively in diverse multicultural environments and to work and deliver under pressure;
Knowledge of relevant government laws and regulations in the country;
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching;
Fluency in English and Amharic is essential; fluency in at least one additional Ethiopian language is a plus;
Ability to write a well-structured report;
Ability to work under pressure, work hours outside of normal working hours, and with a high workload;
Ability to manage a workforce of 50+ people;
Ability to independently organize work and prioritize tasks as well as work with teams.
