Kelem Ethiopia (KELEM) is a local non-governmental non-profit non-political civil society organization (CSO) committed to humanity. Kelem has been actively participating in on the ongoing developmental activities of the country mainly through the creation of access to quality education, water, Sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) facilities, health, emergency response and capacity building of citizens and institutions at different level.

KELEM was established in 2003, 18 years back, particularly to support and build the capacity of marginalized communities that mainly identified as ‘emerging regions’ of Ethiopia. In line with that Kelem has built, furnished, run and handed over more than 68 schools to regional and local government and able to create access to ten thousands of marginalized school aged children and job opportunities for thousands of citizens. It also made significant contribution in area of health, WaSH, livelihood, Emergency response, reducing illegal migration and capacity building programs in different parts of the country.

KELEM has 98 full time staff based at its headquarters, IGA and branch offices stationed in different parts of the country.

Kelem would like to invite competent, capable and creative potential candidates for the following vacant positions:

JOB SUMMARY:

Finance officer is responsible for maintaining healthy financial performance of the organization and ensure that each and every transactions are made as per the rules, procedures and polies of the organization, government and donor organizations.

The FO is the main responsible person to undertake close and active supervision of financial activities at head, branch offices and IGAs. She/he is expected to prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and yearly financial performance reports of the organization, its projects and income generating activities.

He/she is s expected to maintaining pay procedures, preparing payroll information and pay registers for timely payment of salaries, preparing monthly reconciliation and delivering monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports. . In addition she/he control & manage the projects’ financial in & out flow of money based on the annual and project budgets and make sure that no single expense is made beyond and above the approved project. It is also her/his key role to provide timely update on projects’ financial utilization (burning rate), overall financial status and cash status of Kelem’s projects to its budget holder and management. Ensure that government and donors’ compliance are met all the time and under all circumstances.

Regularly review all financial recordings of the organization and make sure that all taxes are paid on time. Undertake year-end financial closure of its accounts, auditing by external auditors within organizational and government’s set timeframe.

She/he also expected to provide technical support and undertake regular supervision of staff and projects under her/his supervision.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical/Professional

Demonstrate excellent skill in Peachtree accounting and other accounting software
Strong financial management capability, including analytical skills, judgment and decision making.
Detailed knowledge of Ethiopian financial law and proclamations
Creativity and problem solving capacity
Excellent communication skill, Fluent in Amharic, English
Proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc;
Able to work with minimal supervision

Excellent skill in team working
Academic Qualification

Required: BA Degree in Accounting or
Desired: ACCA/MA/ in accounting or Financial Management
Required Experience

Required A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience for BA and 2 year of experience for ACCA/MA in accounting or Financial Management
Desired:  Working experience in Civil Society Organizations/Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
